Nobody seems to be in a mood to beat the Diwali hangover any time soon. If today's attendance was anything to go by, the extended weekend has only aggravated matters. Even Khatoon Baig, Sitaram Hivarkar, Harbans Singh and Monthi Serrao did not turn up. A Diwali party, which went on till late last night at the next-door Celebration Club, also accounted for the low turnout this morning.
Nevertheless, preparations were on in full swing for tomorrow’s Diwali get-together. On Saturday, Srichand Arora (right) and Kishor Babani scoured all the eateries of Andheri, the idea being to offer ‘something different’ from the usual boxes that were hitherto being sourced from Vyanjan. They ultimately identified a new place, Anupam at Four Bungalows which would be providing a more interesting mix of food items, freshly prepared and packed by 7:30 a.m. tomorrow.
While Arora-ji went about collecting contributions from all the members present, Yusuf Rassiwala (left) volunteered to inform others on telephone and formally invite them for the get-together. This was extremely considerate of him as he noticed how handicapped we were with Shekhawat-ji still being out of sorts. (In normal circumstances, Shekhawat-ji would be the one to do the calling for a party.) Besides, this Diwali get-together is in the nature of a ‘return party’ after the Eid bash earlier in the year and so, technically, Yusuf-bhai should be seen as a guest. For him to not stand on formalities and help the ‘hosts’ with the organizing, was indeed very gracious of him.
To other ‘guests’, Arora-sah’b’s invite was typically short and trite: “We’d be honored to have your darshan tomorrow morning!”
Renu Babani says:
Yaaay, party time at the Chinese Hut and attendance in full force! It will be fun for sure, and, as usual, we shall have a blast. Watch out for the update and comments as well!
