Belated Birthday

Kiran Sajjan kept her appointment at the Garden to celebrate her birthday (left) with us. In the absence of her car, she had forgotten to come on August 18 (see post of Day 385); but had promised to “surely make it on Saturday”. She has kept her word.
So there she was, soon after the exercises and prayers, walking in to a rousing welcome, followed by the Club chorus of “Happy Birthday to You!” She had brought dry dates (instead of routine luddoos and sweets) which were appreciated by all. Looking resplendent in a printed red-and-gold angarkha ensemble, she gracefully accepted our greetings and good wishes with a smile.
But for this celebration, it was a normal morning (typical of week-ends) at the Garden – the exercises punctuated by small talk on Anna Hazare’s agitation at Delhi, the rising price of gold, India’s debacle in the Test series against England… and so on. Some members are planning to call on Hari Singh Shekhawat this week-end, out of concern towards his health.
Says HARISH WADHWA:
Kiran-ji gave a simple and innocent smile as everyone wished her belated birthday. May God bless her with tons of happiness and good health and of course, return her car. The dates' treat coincided with what one usually takes in the month of Ramadan after fasting, and were truly welcome. Nahid-ji also blushed today when some people tried to imitate her signature laughter: Ha, Haa, Haaaa...
