Dark & Ominous

Another ominously dark day – wet and windy – and boring. Not a morning to stir out of home. Still, a sizeable group of ten turned up at the Chinese Hut for the exercises. As Renu Babani says, the reasons could have more to do with touching base with friends and catching up with gossip (right). Otherwise, in these foul weather conditions, even dogs do not venture out.
Sunita Jajodia wanted to scrap the exercises altogether and disperse, before the skies descended upon us. Nahid Khan however, felt that we could perhaps work out a “short-cut” today and limit ourselves to free-hand exercises (thus doing away with the Laughter rounds) for a change. The lady has been doing “double-duty” by conducting both rounds over the past few days. Finally, after a brief discussion, it was decided that we proceed as per our normal routine and see how much we could cover before the weather deteriorated any further.
We managed to complete all the exercises, with Sitaram Hivarkar taking over towards the end. But this was more in the nature of a job done – a chore undertaken because it had to be finished. Our hearts were not in it. The intermittent rainfall had dampened all enthusiasm.
Harish Wadhwa:
As I woke up with aching bones due to the late evening dhamaal at Ganesh Visarjan, the dark clouds forced me to take an extra nap for an hour. I felt guilty missing my morning dose of jokes and the company of friends for the exercises. Kabhi kabhi phunti marna allowed hai... Hai na?
Renu Babani:
Yes, what a gloomy morning! The atmosphere did nothing to lift our spirits. Many members have left for their holidays. And from the regulars, it was surprising to see many venturing out, despite the rains. Every time a member walked in, we cheered. However, despite the low turnout, just being together was good enough. We at least made an effort to enjoy it.
Monday starts a new week and so let's take a positive note. Surely the weather will improve and more members will attend.
