Day 1000

With this post, we cross another landmark today.
We complete 1000 days of blogging – of chronicling the mornings of our life spent at the Garden, the enchanting encounters and the many happy and not-so-happy moments we have shared together. Much of these would have gone unnoticed or been forgotten by now were it not for this fascinating medium that enables us to preserve digitally the memories for posterity.
But more than all this, the medium has served as a platform for bonding – not for members only but among some avid readers and followers across the globe. We still wonder how a bunch of seniors exercising in an obscure garden in Mumbai’s Lokhandwala suburb can be of any interest to someone in say, Uzbekistan or Latvia or Faroe Islands – not to mention Russia, South Korea, France or Germany. The 200,000-plus page views notched in the 1000 days bear testimony to support this blog receives.
Business as usual on Wednesday
The bulk of this traffic has of course, been coming from English-speaking countries – the USA, U.K., Canada, Singapore, Australia… which can partly be attributed to our members’ extended families settled there. This blog is a means for them to monitor and catch their parents (grandmas and grandpas included) in some of their unguarded moments. Some like Santosh Tyagi’s grand-daughter, Arushi (in the U.K.) and Sardar Teja Singh’s daughter, Jyoti (in the U.S.) have even reached out by registering their comments on certain posts.
In like manner, Dharmendra Grover, Neelam Babani, Aahuti Mistry, Jatin Jajodia, Jasleen Kaur and Raghuvir Shekhawat have left their imprint on the blog. For them, as with many other readers across the world Srichand Arora, Hari Singh Shekhawat and Monthi Serrao are already household names by now. This is however, not to discount the role, in particular of Renu Babani, Harish Wadhwa and Jagmohan Papneja for their constructive comments and suggestions on a regular basis. We invite all other readers to similarly participate, interact and ideate… because this is what bonding beyond the Garden is all about. Treat this as your own blog.
Harish Wadhwa:
