Members admiring the personalised desk calenders |
Unveiling his plans today, the president, Srichand Arora said that the first presentation would be made to Santosh Tyagi on her birthday next Tuesday, February 10. He produced the desk calendars meant for Dilip Babani, Jagmohan Papneja and himself that were missed on their birthdays (because the design elements, paper, costing and other technical details were not finalized) but had nonetheless been celebrated in the Garden.
“The idea is to strengthen a sense of emotional connect, pride and belongingness towards the Club,” he said.
Sheela Mirani is back! |
While this was Arora’s manner to pitch for regular attendance, the bigger picture was that the Club owed something in return for the kind of lavish celebrations members have got into while ushering in their birthdays with us. The least we could do was offer a token gift – a memento that would bring happy memories during their lonely moments all through a year. At a subliminal level, the emotional bonding would be kept alive through this symbolic, yet unique gesture. For ultimately, this is one calendar no money can buy.
The other good news of the day was that Sheela Mirani is back from her trip to Mount Abu. We had been missing her, wondering where she had suddenly disappeared. Today she revealed that she was at the Brahma Kumaris’ spiritual headquarters on the Aravalis, away from the madness of Mumbai and Big Laaf.
Kiran Prakash:
This is a moment of pride for all of us. It is not a return gift. It is not just a calendar. It is not even a collection of photographs. It is a reflection of how the Club honours its members. And it will indeed be the first of its kind in the world. Even at the cost of sounding emotional, I must say this gift is priceless. The quantum of imagination, emotion, creativity and execution that has gone into its making is highly appreciable.
Jagmohan Papneja:
So long as new ideas like the one just conceived by Arora-ji are created, Big Laaf will continue to grow by leaps and bounds.
Lt Col Angad Singh (retd):
Birthday is a memorable event in the life of any individual. The calendar will certainly remind us of our attachment to the Club. We all will eagerly await the grand occasion.
Srichand Arora:
LET ME CLARIFY HERE THAT THIS IDEA OF YEARLY CALENDAR IS THE BRAINCHILD OF OUR DEAR MRS BHASWATI BOSE WHICH WE ALL MUST APPRECIATE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH, BHASWATI-JI.
Bhaswati Bose:
Let me clarify here that this is not my idea. I had only passed on the information and it was Arora-ji who implemented it for the Club. Thank him, not me!
Kiran Prakash adds:
If nobody is willing to own this idea, can you consider crediting it to me?
