Valentine Picnic

Picxy Sea Resort at Gorai awaits the arrival of BIG LAAF
The picnic for this weekend is confirmed. As per plans (ref post of February 7), it will be at Gorai Beach on February 14 (Saturday) and the damages would be around Rs600 per head. This should take care of all expenses -- three meals (breakfast, lunch and evening snacks) as well as transport to-and-fro by bus.
Making the announcement today, Shekhawat informed that he had spoken about the possibility of a ‘group discount’ with the management of Picxy Sea Resort (which would be hosting us) and the bus operator. “Whatever benefit they would give us shall be shared with all by way of refunds,” he said. “I'll wait till Wednesday (February 11) for members to pay up, after which I'd invite outsiders. We need an optimal group strength of 40 to derive maximum advantage on costs.”
Shekhawat’s proposal for the Club to underwrite the transport costs (amounting to an estimated Rs200 per head) for members however, met with opposition.
Shekhawat discusses picnic plans for February 14
“From outsiders, we shall charge the full amount of Rs600,” he explained. “But if we could consider discounting the charges to Rs400 for members only, it would send a positive message across.”
The opposing view to this was that members unable to go on the picnic (for whatever reason) would feel deprived – even cheated. For their money is also part of the Club kitty. Besides, as Yusuf Rassiwala pointed out, the Club has hardly the funds to indulge in any largesse. “Better not to get into any break-up,” advised Jagmohan Papneja. “Let everybody pay the full amount.”
On one count though, there was complete unanimity: No distinction should be made on charges for the spouses of members. “But if I were to bring my grandson or even my son, he should be treated as an outsider,” Shekhawat elaborated. Quick on the uptake, the ladies chimed in: “That should apply also to second wives, all saalis, assorted girlfriends and boyfriends and… and...”
Jagmohan Papneja:
Shekawat-ji's picnics are well-organized and have always created beautiful memories. This time also it will be cherished by members who'd take part.
