Patience Pays Off

PARTY TIME ONCE AGAIN -- Courtesy Naseem Khan
Fortune favors patience. For, after enduring extreme deprivation yesterday (see post) we were rewarded today in compound interest with not one, not two, but three kindered souls
Angad Singh (r) gets us revdis
Naseem Khan (l) plays perfect hostess
showering their generosity upon us at the Garden.
There was no reason for Angad Singh to bring us revdis today. He had already treated us to those delightful crispies on February 20 when he returned from Mohali (see post) after a year. Obviously, he had felt sorry for us yesterday and today’s treat was his way of
Navin Bhai's salted peanuts from Baroda
expressing his sympathy!
Then there was good old Navin Bhai, who is not even a member of Big Laaf. In our state of acute starvation yesterday, we must have made such a spectacle of ourselves that first thing in the morning today, Navin Bhai rushed us a packet of salted peanuts from Baroda.
Grateful guests
A friend in need is a friend indeed. We thank the gentleman for this timely gesture and show of concern.
But the best, as always, was left for the last. Most of us were unaware that Naseem Khan had a feast lined up to celebrate her daughter’s birthday. What’s more, the girl has just snagged a job as airhostess with Jet Airways. If only Naseem had told us of her plans to have a grand celebration today, we would have been saved of needless anxiety through the exercises – what with every late-comer risking his/ her bag being checked for its contents.
“My daughter’s birthday is actually on March 6,” Naseem revealed as she served us platefuls of vada-pao, bread-pakora, naan khatai, etc. and tea. “The reason I decided to celebrate her birthday in advance is that my husband will have to be admitted to hospital on March 6. He has to be operated upon for a severe kidney stone condition.”
We wish Naseem the very best for her husband and of course, a wonderful career ahead for her high flying daughter.
