Eid Party 2017

Celebrating the spirit of Eid-ul Fitr
Yesterday’s blog post has had its desired effect. Or so did it seem today morning. Not a single gatecrasher showed up at our Eid party. But Mumtaz Jahan, Nahid Siddiqui and a few others who had gone missing were there. They were of course, invited.
We also had two surprise guests: Yusuf Rassiwala’s little grandchildren, Mubaraka and Jamila, escorted by their grand mom. Even Bihari Milwani and Siba Prasad Maitra took time out to be present at the party till the end and only thereafter, did they leave for work. In effect, we had a full house with all the buzz and bonhomie needed for a supremely enjoyable Eid party.
The food on offer was irrelevant, even as it was hugely sumptuous and appetizing, all thanks to Dilip Babani’s ingenuity in sourcing the stuff early morning.
Guests Mubaraka and Jamila
And as usual, Banoo Apa’s tea marked the high point of the celebration. In fact, some were in a hurry to leave, but patiently held themselves back till Banoo Apa produced her magic concoction.
Full credit to Yusuf R and Kiran Prakash for making this party a success.
Having a blast at the party
They were the ones to have initiated the preparations and at short notice, getting everybody together on board in the face of uncertain weather conditions. Today also, Yusuf R was on his toes most of the time coordinating the arrangements and ensuring that everybody was comfortable and got what they wanted.
But then, this party can at best be taken as a prelude to a much bigger bash, scheduled later in the month. Yusuf R turns 70 on July 23, 2017. What’s more, he intends to combine his annual Eid party with celebrating the major milestone of his life. And he'd not be doing so in the Garden. “I invite you all to join me for lunch at Courtyard Restaurant on the Sunday after next,” he announced with trademark humility.
“The place has been booked from 12 noon to 3:00 pm,” he added. “So please be there on time.”
Banoo Apa (on WhatsApp):
Good morning, friends. I do not have adequate words of appreciation for my Big Laaf group -- for all those who showed their love and affection for the Eid Milan today. The party was grand. But more importantly, the unity behind this gesture was unique. May ALLAH keep all of us united and happy. Thank you Dilip for arranging such good food.
Razia Khan (on WhatsApp):
Thanks a billion, Big Laaf club for arranging such a grand party. Thanks a lot, all members, for taking your precious time out from your busy schedule to arrange this party. I appreciate your effort.
Bihari Milwani:
When is the next Eid party?
Karun Sharma:
Yusuf Bhai is a gem of a person. He remains concerned and considerate towards all. The Eid party was indeed a great success. We could see Zarina Khan after a long time. She had observed additional roza of six more days post-Eid. We all are ready for Yusuf Bhai's 70th birthday celebration and consider ourselves lucky to have such a healthy and happy man with us.
Siba Prasad Maitra:
The Eid party was really excellent because each member enjoyed with heart and soul. Selection of food items was superb and was served hot on the plate. The way lady members arranged different varieties on the plate was really appreciable. Thanks to Dilip-bhai for extending his support as in every party. Tea was exceptionally good.
