Home Turf

Back to our old stomping ground in the  Garden
We are back on home turf, a clear six months after we migrated to the cool confines of the China Hut. The unbearable summer heat of April-May, followed by the incessant rains of an extended monsoon had tied us down to the cramped space till we became

accustomed to working out in the comfort of overhead fans.
Thus, it was with some reluctance that we retraced our steps today and resumed our routine out in the open. The rains have stopped and the grass in the Garden appeared neatly cropped. In fact, it was pleasantly cool this morning in spite of the bright sunshine and absence of any breeze.
But then, the temptation to return to the China Hut still exists -- so adjusted had we become to its comforts over the last six months. There are many among us who, at the slightest pretext, would want to go back, little realising the benefits of exposure to the morning sun and more importantly, the need to break into a sweat – the very purpose of exercising religiously every day.
Meanwhile, preparations for the Monday picnic (ref yesterday’s post) gathered momentum. An informal meeting was convened soon after the exercises and a new destination, Samara Gardens in Madh Island was settled. Shekhawat called the resort manager from the Garden and finalised the charges in front of us.
What remains now is hiring a bus and working out the economics of the trip.
