Dark, but windy morning, with intermittent showers. Still, over a dozen members turned up – most notably, Hari Singh Shekhawat (below). He was away for a week to close a property deal somewhere in Rajasthan.True to style, Shekhawat was back to his pranks – his favourite being prolonging the ‘Slow and Fast’ laughter round. Today, in the absence of Ramila Mistry, he found a new target in Nahid Khan. The lady was taken by surprise when she realized that both his ‘pistols’ were trained on her and couldn’t help exclaiming, “Yeh kahaan se naya dushman aa gaya hai?” Shekhawat, who was hopping behind her, moved in front and smiling sheepishly, continued with his ‘target practice’.
There was some talk about going on a picnic, now that the weather has turned so pleasant. Actually, Harish Wadhwa is planning a trip to Lonavala with his family and friends this week-end and was enquiring about a lodge or bungalow on hire. This being peak tourism season at the hill station, he is a bit hard-pressed on finding accommodation there on a Saturday or Sunday. But he is game to joining us also if a trip were to be organized from the Club. Harish suggested that even if Lonavala does not work out, we might just set out on short notice for any place, without planning, so long as we get to enjoy the weather. All it takes is four or five cars and a sense of adventure. Srichand Arora endorsed the idea of Alibaug (where he has not been to) for which we could possibly assemble at Churchgate Station or Gateway of India from where it is a short 50-minute ferry ride. This way we would cut the road journey by a good four hours.
Let us see how this pans out.
