Kiran Prakash sparks a debate on post-Eid picnic or party |
Today Kiran Prakash announced (in his capacity as secretary of the Club) that the party is being scheduled for Saturday, July 8 and should anybody have any suggestions, he/ she is welcome to speak up.

All were fine with the announcement till Nahid Siddiqui intervened, saying that she was tired of having fries and sweets early morning and that we needed to raise the bar for the Eid celebration this time. “If it costs more, we shall contribute separately,” she proposed. “Why not think on the lines of a picnic? It will be a good change and the weather is just fine.”
Soon the party idea was abandoned and Shekhawat immediately suggested a trip to Lonavala. Dilip Babani and others felt that a one-day picnic, say to Saina or Royal Garden Resort should be ideal for the present and Lonavala could be deferred to August-September. Kiran Prakash himself back-tracked and left it to majority
Briefing for Bangkok-Patayya trip in October-November |
An off-shoot of the discussions was that we should NOT BE constrained by a budget and for once, have a celebration -- even with a picnic -- fully sponsored by the Club. “We have the funds now and this is an occasion as good as any other,” said Kiran Prakash. “But I want it to be a memorable event. What is the point of salting away cash in the bank, unless we get to spend it once in a while on a good cause?”
Meanwhile, plans for a trip to Bangkok-Pattaya in October-November gained further traction as Bhaswati Bose today spelt out details of the itinerary, estimated costs, tourism (and shopping) hot spots, etc. for what is being broadly envisaged as a customized tour, tailor-made for senior citizens like us. More importantly, this should turn out to be the first ‘international tour’ from the Club.
Bookings are open till July 10, 2017.

Wow! Keep celebrating with a big laugh, whether it is picnic or party. It is worth enjoying, as laughter is the basic ingredient and tonic for good health.
