Bijoya Sammelan

Festive atmosphere in the Garden this morning
Ravan has gone up in smoke. Durga has been immersed in the waters. And all the dandiya dances, night-time music and entertainment shows, pandal hopping and non-stop feasting and revelry through 10 maddening days have suddenly come to a grinding halt.
But still, there was a bit of festive fervor left in us. Against the backdrop of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth
Bengali rasogullas for all
anniversary today, we celebrated Bijoya Sammelan – a time-honored ritual that formally marks the end of the Dussehra festivities on a sweet note.
Bhaswati Bose had come prepared with a small tub of rasogullas but offered to distribute them provided we raise a ‘fourth laugh’ (after the exercises) for her effort. It was a teaser, but taken sportingly (even by chronic diabetics) along with the sinfully succulent dumplings dripping of sugar syrup.
The little ‘ceremony’ set the tone for a festive atmosphere in the Garden, even as the weather had turned oppressively warm and muggy this morning. Monsoon, they say, has withdrawn for the year. This could only mean one thing: We are in for tougher times ahead.

Dilip Babani:
Very nice rossogulla, Bhaswati-ji.

Bihari Milwani:
I never knew that Bhaswati makes such mouth-watering and tasty Bengali rosogolla!

Karun Sharma:
Rosogullas must be missing me as I am missing them. Thank you, Bhaswati for making the friends wear such juicy and sweet smiles. My outstation trips are continuing as I am now in Ankleshwar for three days.
