Pat on Back

Shekhawat today got a pat on the back from an unlikely quarter. Jagmohan Papneja (in pic, right) had just returned from a picnic at Manor with a group from the neighboring Garden. We too had been to the same place (but at another resort) three years back. It was a day outing and as always, we had a blast.
But Papneja somehow, did not look too pleased about his trip. Being the only member from the Club to have accompanied the other group, he was repeatedly prodded on his experience. After much hesitation he complained about certain issues that arise out of inadequate planning. “It was not the same as the excursions you organize,” he told Shekhawat.
Indeed, Shekhawat was acquired the reputation of being an ace at organizing excursions, be it in and around Mumbai or to far-off places like Goa and now, Kashmir. Nobody has ever had any complaints on the way he gets things done – right from the collection of cash, hiring transport, booking the place, etc. Today, Moti (the man behind the Thought of the Day quotes on the Garden’s blackboard) was seen consulting Shekhawat on hiring a mini bus for a ‘private picnic’ to Lonavala.
Meanwhile, Renu Babani led a seven-member delegation of movie addicts to Cinemax to watch the latest Saif Ali Khan-starrer Cocktail (pic above, left). The movie has received mixed reviews in the press -- mainly for its convoluted plotline on a double ménage-a-trois of sorts featuring Deepika Padukone, Diana Penty and Randeep Hooda, with Saif at the centre of it all.
But then, does anybody really care? So long as you get a break from your daily routine, just about any run-of-the-mill potboiler should do.
Renu Babani's PICSPEAK:
* "You guys are the best... Keep it up!"
* "Life is a cocktail... Take a sip and enjoy!"
P.S.: I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and everyone acted real well!
Dilip Babani:
Really, life is a 'cocktail' only for those people who are alive. In this tense world, all are dead. Very few are alive and living life like a cocktail!
Harish Wadhwa:
* Life is great -- alive, cheerful and kicking -- as long as it is a cocktail of such nice babes as in the picture. Give this opportunity to any of our men (age no bar, and don't forget me!) to see them go weak in their knees!
* There is no doubt that good planning and arrangements are the key to making a good picnic. Shekhawat-ji and his fellow colleagues excel in doing them, which makes the trips memorable.
